We produce tree surveys and arboricultural reports for planning applications, property purchases and tree safety, across Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and London.
What do you need the tree survey for?

If there are trees on or near a site you plan to build on, your council will usually expect tree information with the planning application. We carry out the BS5837 tree survey and write the reports that follow it:
The Tree Constraints Plan, Arboricultural Impact Assessment, Arboricultural Method Statement and Tree Protection Plan. During construction, we can also provide arboricultural supervision.
For homeowners, schools, estates and anyone responsible for trees on their land, from a single tree to a whole site. A tree condition and risk assessment identifies the trees that need attention, the risk they pose and any work required, so you can meet your duty of care without removing trees unnecessarily.
If you're buying a property with trees nearby, your lender or surveyor may ask for a tree report before the purchase goes ahead. Our mortgage and pre-purchase tree reports identify the trees within influencing distance of the building and what they mean for it. We also carry out subsidence and heave risk assessments for existing homeowners.

FAQs
For a planning application it is almost always a BS5837:2012 survey, usually with a Tree Constraints Plan, and often an Arboricultural Impact Assessment as well. For a house purchase or a lender's query it is a mortgage or pre-purchase tree report. For a tree you are worried about, it is a tree condition and risk assessment. Send us the wording you were given and we will tell you which it is. There is also a longer guide to the different types of tree survey.
The survey records the trees and plots their constraints. The Arboricultural Impact Assessment takes your proposed design and assesses how it affects those trees, and what's needed to retain them. The survey comes first, and the assessment builds on it.
The number of trees, the size and location of the site and which reports are needed. Send the site address and any additional information and you will get a fixed quote before you commit to anything.
We cover mainly Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and London. If you are outside that, ask anyway and we will tell you either way.
Quotes go out quickly, usually within 12 hours. For the survey itself, tell us your deadline when you enquire and we will tell you whether we can work to it rather than leaving you guessing.
It depends on the work. For a planning application your local planning authority sets what has to be submitted, and for a purchase or insurance it is the lender, surveyor or insurer. Where tree safety is concerned, if you own or manage land you have a legal duty of care over your trees.
